Media Release: DIFF Director Declared
The Darwin International Film Festival (DIFF) now has a Director: Darwin-born and bred filmmaker Tim Parish
Since its inception in 2010, DIFF has successfully established itself as an annual festival for the arts calendar. DIFF is entering an exciting new period of growth, partly heralded with the appointment of its first ever DIFF Director.
The Darwin Film Society advertised the juicy position last month, receiving a good response from applicants across Australia as well as locally.
DFS Chair John Schier said, “The Darwin Film Society has a legacy of strong community engagement, and part of our shortlisting process for the position of DIFF Director involved including only those applicants who were Darwin-based. We received several very promising applications from locals, so it turned out to be a very difficult choice choosing who would be successful.”
Schier continues: “The DFS welcomes Tim Parish into the role of DIFF Director. Tim has a long history of involvement with the DFS and some wonderfully exciting ideas for DIFF this year and into the future.”
Tim Parish is a local born filmmaker whose work crosses over documentary, short film, video art, theatre and the arts. Through his production company Verb Studios, Tim has been producing short films, documentaries and video art for the last ten years across the Northern Territory and Australia.
Tim Parish says: “I am passionate about sharing a love for cinema from across Australia and the world and I hope to make the Darwin International Film Festival more supportive of the local film industry. I am looking forward to making the 2016 festival a unique and bold programme that should not be missed.”
